UW Bothell Professor Forces Students into Mandatory One-Sided Lecture on Gaza

Jewish and Israeli Students Ambushed with Political Indoctrination

Breaking: Jewish and Israeli students at UW Bothell were ambushed in the classroom when Professor Alka Kurian abruptly replaced her scheduled class with a mandatory lecture on "genocide" and "starvation in Gaza." Attendance was required, and students were told they had to write a paper on the lecture—or risk their grades.

Professor Kurian blindsided students by replacing her own scheduled class with MANDATORY attendance at a presentation by WA CAIR consultant Sabrene Odeh. The topic—"Genocide in Gaza" and "starvation"—was not on the syllabus. Other presenters were there, none with opposing views.

Let’s talk about CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), the organization UW Bothell brought into the classroom:

1. Named an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2008 terrorism financing case. 

2. Flagged by 2009 Senate Intelligence Committee report for concerns about potential ties to extremist ideologies. 

And this is who was invited—with NO opposing perspectives?

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict WASN'T ON THE SYLLABUS for this class. Professor Kurian forced students to sit through a one-sided presentation of blood libel against Israel - and provided NO OTHER VIEWPOINTS. Worse, she assigned a paper on it.

Meanwhile, who’s actually starving? Israeli hostages. The 3 men released this week were severely emaciated, reportedly suffered organ damage, and described horrific torture.

All while Hamas terrorists collected copious amounts of humanitarian aid.

This isn’t free speech. It’s academic coercion. Prof Kurian forced students to participate in propaganda.

UW must act NOW to implement the Antisemitism Task Force’s recommendations. Stop professors from hijacking classrooms for political indoctrination.
